 ABOUT LIBRARY:
The Library and Documentation Centre of NIFFT is rendering valuable services to the Institute and users. It has more than 50,450 reading Materials (Books, Bound Volume of Journals, Standards, Transparencies, Slides, Video cassettes, Microfilms and LRs etc). The centre subscribes 77 Journals and 1100 e-journals.
The centre provides Reading Facility Borrowing Facility, Reference Services, Reprography Services, Inter Library Loan, Binding Facility and Laminating Facility. The Library has approximately 550 users (UG Students, PG Students, ADC Students, Ph D Students Participants of Refresher Courses, Faculty Members and Staff Members of the Institute and can provide sitting space to 95 people at a time.
The automation of Library reading materials has almost been completed through LibSys software. The automated Library uses computerization for circulation of books and browsing of some journals. A user is provided with bar-coded Library Card. The entire book collection is bar-coded. The Journals data base and book data base are available on the Institute network for browsing purposes. Rest of the computers of the Institute are inter connected through a campus wide ATM backbone.
The Library initiated e-Library in 2007. It includes Science Direct Two Subject Collection (Engineering & Material Science), Springer Link and ASME (Through INDEST-AICTE Consortium) online in full text which is also available on the campus LAN for the users for browsing. This facility has been very useful to the research scholar and students. The library collection also includes a large number of expensive reference books, a large number of text book collection meant to cater for the courses running in the Institute and collection of books ear-marked for SC/ST students.
The Library has been catering to the needs of the under graduates, post graduate research scholar facility and staff members of the Institute. The book collection has been supporting the teaching, research, development and other professional activities of different departments. The demands of the ever growing research areas multiple disciplines is being catered with the help of latest volumes, in almost all fields of engineering, Science, Technology and general areas.
WELCOME TO LIBRARY
The Library marked its existence in 1966. Since then, it has grown in size and content along with National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology to take the present shape. All these years, it has been the life line for the academic activity of the Institute. At present, it is well equipped with all modern facilities.
Library provides services seven days a week catering information to 05 Departments, the Library houses more than 50,450 reading materials Books, Journals, Standards, Transparencies, Slides, Video cassettes, Microfilms and LRs etc. Total collection is bar-coded by LIBSYS Software. The centre subscribed 77 Printed Journals and 1100 e-Journals.
The collection of the Library is available online through a web-based public Access catalogue Library automation has almost been completed through LIBSYS Software; Total Collection is bar-coded.
