Department of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering
 
Established in 1985, the department was known as the Production Engineering Department. It was later renamed the Department of Manufacturing Engineering in 1991. Through the thoughtful integration of mechanical and manufacturing technologies with effective management principles, the department has cultivated a competent team of engineers whose contributions make a meaningful difference in the world. Recently, in the year 2020, it was granted official recognition as the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.

The Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering department boasts state-of-the-art technology and facilities to conduct extensive research in a multitude of fields. The department is deeply committed to fostering a robust industrial network to provide valuable consultancy services and actively supports a wide range of research projects focused on manufacturing processes. The department takes great pride in its multifaceted approach and dedication towards advancing knowledge and expertise in every aspect of the field, from forging and welding to micromachining, additive manufacturing, CAD/CAM/CAE and beyond. The department's unwavering commitment to excellence in design, manufacturing, and artificial intelligence ensures that the institute remains at the forefront of innovation and progress, consistently pushing boundaries and driving the industry forward.

The department is committed to providing exceptional theoretical and practical experiences for its students. Its curriculum is thoughtfully designed to align with industry standards, with a particular emphasis on fostering critical thinking and innovation across an extensive array of disciplines. The overarching aim of the department is to furnish students with a robust foundation that will enable them to excel in a diverse range of career paths. The department currently offers a Bachelor of Technology program in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Technology program in Manufacturing Engineering, and several options for pursuing doctoral studies in advanced manufacturing fields.
